Irish Medals
Many centuries ago, Catholics popularized the practice of wearing religious devotional medals or Saint medals to commemorate specific Irish Saints, holy places, or historical events. Many Catholics at the time would have personal medals cast to commemorate births and special sacraments like Baptism. Ireland, once known as the land of saints and scholars, has produced a plethora of saints, many of whom left their homeland to Christianize the rest of Europe.
